The Systems Management Server 2003 Inventory Tool for Microsoft Updates (ITMU) scans client computers for required updates, based on the Windows Update Catalog used by Windows Server Update Services.
It is recommended that you run the SMS 2003 Inventory Tool for Microsoft Updates Setup wizard on a primary SMS site server that is highest in the hierarchy, such as a central site server.
By installing ITMU on the central site The SMS objects that you create (collections, packages, and programs) will automatically flow down your site hierarchy.
