Installing and configuring Client Operating System Management Pack for Operations Manager 2007

Three levels of client monitoring are available in Operations Manager 2007:

Crash and Hang monitoring occurs when client systems are monitored for applications that stop responding. The Crash and Hang level of monitoring is configured using the Agentless Exception Monitoring (AEM) feature in Operations Manager 2007 and does not require that a Management Pack has been installed.

Collective Client Monitoring gathers health information from all clients that have a client operating system Management Pack installed. This information is stored in the Operations Manager database and can be used to create reports that display trend information.

Business Critical Client Monitoring is the most extensive monitoring available for Windows clients. This monitoring level gathers health information about designated individual client computers. Like server monitoring, each client with this type of monitoring has individual monitors and alerts that an administrator can use to maintain a constant state of operational functionality.

The Windows client operating system Management Packs are intended for use in gathering data on client computers or individually monitoring designated mission-critical client computers.
